10 października, 2020Wishes for Healthcare Professionals
18 października, 2020Hospitals should carefully analyze the risk of claims from their employees, advises Jacek Bilski, Supra Brokers expert, who was interviewed at the „XIV Hospital & Healthcare Management” conference.
According to Jacek Bilski, the rapid increase in the number of infections as a result of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic may result in the fact that not only patients, but most of all representatives of medical personnel, will have claims against hospitals as their employers.
For example, allegations of inadequate security measures may be at stake, putting employees at risk of contamination. On the other hand, as emphasized by Jacek Bilski, in such cases, insurers may treat infection during a pandemic in terms of an occupational disease and thus exclusions from the scope of insurance liability. This in turn means that the hospital will have to cover any claims from its own resources.
– Our role as a broker is risk analysis and consulting so that, thanks to the proper organization of work and the selection of the appropriate insurance scope, the hospital minimizes the risk of liability – believes Jacek Bilski.
The Supra Brokers expert emphasized that the COVID-19 pandemic showed how important education in the field of threats, procedures, scope of insurance protection, and potential claims is an important element of the operations of healthcare sector institutions. We remind about all this, among others during training courses conducted by Supra Brokers.
